The Kona AfricaBike Three (often referred to as the AfricaBike 3.0) is an upright, utility-driven commuter bike designed for extreme durability and low-maintenance functionality. It was built with a rugged structure intended to withstand harsh environments.  

Key Features & Specifications

• Frame & Geometry: It features a robust Cromoly steel or butted 7005 aluminum step-through frame (depending on the production year) with an integrated, extra-strong welded rear rack. The geometry emphasizes a highly upright, stable riding position.  
• Internal Drivetrain: Equipped with a low-maintenance Shimano Nexus 3-speed internally geared rear hub. Because the gears are fully enclosed inside the hub, they are protected from rain, dirt, and mud, allowing you to change gears even while at a complete stop. 
• Braking System: It uses a classic coaster brake (back-pedal brake) integrated into the rear hub for reliable stopping power in any weather. Some models also include a supplemental front hand brake (like a Shimano or Tektro V-brake). 
• Wheels & Tires: It rolls on heavy-duty 26-inch aluminum rims with thick, puncture-resistant tires (typically 26" x 1.75" or 1.9" Kenda tires) built to tackle uneven pavement, dirt paths, and gravel roads.  

 Integrated Storage: Includes a unique folding front wire basket that springs into place when needed and folds flat against the handlebars when empty, alongside the heavy-duty rear cargo rack.  

 Practical Commuter Extras: The bike comes fully equipped for everyday utility out of the box, featuring a chain cover/guard, full color-matched mudguards/fenders, an integrated rear wheel lock (with key), a kickstand, and a classic Kona bell.
